Extra security measures taken by an Omakere farmer haven't deterred thieves from stealing nearly $4000 worth of equipment.

Senior Constable Glynn Sharp said on the night of the 30th September the farms woolshed was burgled, and the offenders have stolen two Heininger brand shearing machines valued at $1800 each.

He said it is the latest in a string of similar burglaries for this farmer, who had taken extra security precautions which proved to be futile.

Mr Sharp said Police believe the offender is probably employed in the shearing industry, as are his friends and family.

Information leading to the identity of the offender and/or the whereabouts of the stolen machines can be passed on to the Waipukurau Police Station or the anonymous Crimestoppers line.
