A recent controlled purchase operation in Central Hawke's Bay resulted in no alcohol being sold to the two minors involved.

The operation took place on Fruday the 29th of June, with 6 premises tested in Waipukurau, and 2 in Waipawa.

Central Hawke's Bay District Council Communications Officer, Ethna Renner, said no sales occured during the operation, and there were no fails.

There is a strong wind watch in place for Hawke's Bay and Tararua today.

For Hawke's Bay, northwest gales could rise to severe gale force from late morning through until 8 o'clock tonight.

In Tararua, severe gale winds are likely from early this afternoon until late tonight.

The Tararua District Council lifted the boil water notice for Pongaroa residents on Friday.

The Council was able to lift the notice after achieving three consecutive clear test results.

The Council thanked residents of the town for their patience while the notice was in place.
