The New Zealand Transport Agency will reduce the Waipawa Bridge to one lane for the next few nights so it can undertake work.

The bridge will be single lane from 7pm tonight, tomorrow and Thursday night so as not to interfere with safety improvement work being done on the State Highway, just south of Waipawa.

Meanwhile the westbound closure of the Saddle Road scheduled for today will not go ahead.

Contractors had planned to close the lane from 8.30am - 2.30pm, but no longer need too.

The westbound lane is expected to be closed though tomorrow and Thursday.

Organisers of the recent Nga Taonga o Tamatea - Hokinga Mai exhibition at the CHB Settlers Museum are happy with the reponse from the public.

Don Tipene said the "wonderful success" of the exhibition shows there is a need for our own whare taonga in the district.

The exhibition was extended from its original close date.

Mr Tipene said there is no doubt CHB has got extreme wealth in taonga Maori, with exhibits equal to anything in the country.
