CHB shearer Cam Ferguson has finished third in the Machine Shearing Individual Final at the 18th World Shearing Champs in France.

The 2010 World Champ was picked as part of the Allflex New Zealand team to compete at the championships, which finished early yesterday morning NZ Time.

It was a close finish in the individual event, with Hawke's Bays Rowland Smith and Ferguson finishing first and second, but Richard Jones of Wales managed to take the world title picking up points during pen judging to win by just 0.15 points.

Ferguson and Smith finished third in the teams event.

The pair will now go on to compete in tests against England and Wales over the next three weeks.

More than 150 people attended the Connecting Central Hawke’s Bay event in Waipawa last week.

Agencies such as the Ministry of Social Development, local emergency services, and Safer Central Hawke’s Bay all attended the event, which aimed to boost resilient and strong local partnerships through effective communication.

Attendees worked together to develop communication and collaboration skills, to support community cohesion and improved partnerships.

Councillor Kelly Annand, Chair of the CHB District Councils Community Development Committee, said the event was a real milestone in the successful development of our community.
