About 450 tickets have been sold already for the upcoming Hawke's Bay Sports Awards.

The function is being held on Saturday May 26th at Pettigrew Green Arena in what Sport Hawke's Bay Commercial Manager, Ryan Hamnleton, says is looking likely to be the largest celebration of sporting achievement.

He says across the region we have had some outstanding achievements on a
local, national and international level, with the awards always a
special occasion that bring the sporting community together.

Broadcaster Peter Williams will MC the event.

Tickets are available from Sport Hawke's Bay or on the website www.hbsportsawards.co.nz, and must be purchased before this Sunday.


A strong wind watch is in place for CHB and Tararua today.

The Metservice says for areas of Hawke's Bay south of Hastings through to Wairarapa, northwesterly winds could reach severe gale in exposed areas.

Wind gusts of 100km/hr are forecast.

The strongest winds will be in the period from 3pm today to 3am tomorrow.


Child development expert Nathan Wallis will give a series of talks at CHB Collge today.

Wallis will present three sessions - the first, from 9am - 10.30am, is on parents gaining an understanding of how positive adult interaction helps improve wellbeing for children and adolescents.

The second session from 11am - 12.30pm, deals with resilience and anxieties; with the final session starting at 1pm looking at supporting positive behaviour.
