The SH50-Waipawa River Bridge will be re-opened to traffic this coming Friday.
A washout saw the bridge closed in late June, and since then more than 16,000 tonnes of aggregate has been used to rebuild the approach to the bridge.
Waka Kotahi Hawke’s Bay/Tairāwhiti System Manager Martin Colditz says SH50 is a crucial link north for the Central Hawke’s Bay community and an important connection to and from the lower North Island.
He says getting this part of the network back up and running has been a significant priority, with a massive effort by contractors.
A blessing ceremony will be held on-site tomorrow prior to Friday’s re-opening.
