“Keeping up Appearance’s”
At The Waipukurau Little Theatre
I enjoyed travelling back to the 90’s for this one. Sat cross legged as a child glued to the 21inch TV, eagerly awaiting the next installment.
After 30 odd years the comedy was brought to the stage & was everything I dreamed of & this time the adult humor didn’t go above my head!
Director Helen Griffin & the team have put together a wonderful production thank you for taking me back down memory lane .
Hyacinth (Kirsten Selfe) was just as glorious as I recalled, her stage presence, mouth movement, voice & stance all replicating that of the lady of the house (Patricia Routledge)
Well cast roles who brought back to life a show we all loved & missed. I enjoyed the attention to detail costumes including Onslow’s tattoos, sleeveless tops & the very important caps!
Emmet & Elizabeth, Daisy & Onslow, Rose, Milly, Mrs Debden, Vicar/Daddy all strong roles that individually deserve applause.
I loved each cast member & was amazed at how easily they slipped into character when it was so far from their own personalities.
Hyacinth’s phone calls a highlight & the comic one liners well executed by the entire cast keeping the audience in fits of laughter.
Daddy features & was brilliant I also liked that Richard was often referred to but never seen.
Cheeky Intense & definitely witty.
I'm not one for gossip but the show has already sold out!
Thank you, Little Theatre, for letting us be part of your magic & we look forward to your next show
For those that nabbed tickets you are in for a real treat & if you are lucky enough to experience the High Tea it is indeed Hyacinth approved.
