Waipawa and Otane residents were asked to restrict non-essential use of water after a leak was discovered in the pipeline that supplies the two towns reservoirs.

The issue was identified just after 8am, with the supply to the reservoir turned off to allow further investigation.

Repairs were completed by late morning, with the pipeline repressurised and given the all clear mid-afternoon yesterday.

Central Hawke’s Bay District Council crews were keeping an eye on the water levels in the reservoir overnight.
