Proposals for a merger of the Primary Wool Co-Operative and Wools of NZ will be outlined at a meeting in Dannevirke today.
Backers of the proposal say the merger would transform the wool industry.
The Primary Wool Co-Operative was started in Hawke’s Bay nearly 50 years ago, and is owned by 1400 farmers, while Wools of NZ started in Christchurch about 15 years ago.
The issue will be voted on in November.
Today’s meeting in Dannevirke is being held at the Dannevirke Golf Club from midday.
