The Waipukurau Squash Club will send a team to the National Superchamps tournament in Ashburton later this year.
In what is believed to be a first for the Club, the Ladies F Grade team will play in the Superchamps after winning at a District Elimination Tournament recently.
Team spokesperson Nicky Heremaia said each region hosts a District Elimination Tournament where local clubs are able to enter teams to compete & qualify for the national tournament.
Teams consisting of 5 players each play a 'best of 5' match.
Only two clubs entered a team into the Ladies F Grade Division - Waipukurau Lawn Tennis & Squash Club and Surf City Gisborne Squash Club.
Nicky said the Waipukurau team won 3 of the 5 matches & so qualify to compete at the National Superchamps in September.
