Two people were flown to hospital following a crash near Takapau yesterday. The crash – between a car and a ute – happened late yesterday morning on State Highway 2, resulting in the highway being closed for nearly an hour. A house in Dannevirke was destroyed by fire on Sunday. Fire appliances from Dannevirke and Norsewood were called to the blaze on Top Grass Road just after 2.30am Sunday. The house was fully involved when firefighters arrived. The occupants of the house escaped unhurt. The Dannevirke community has been quick to offer clothing and assistance to a local family who lost their home in a fire on Sunday. A house on a rural road near Dannevirke burnt to the ground yesterday. Fire appliances were called to the Waitahora Road property around 6.15am.
