Positive cases and close contacts will now be notified by text message

The key features of Phase 2 are a reduction in isolation periods required for cases (down to 10 days) and contacts (down to seven days); the use of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) to allow critical workers who are close contacts of a case to be able to go to work if they test negative; and a greater use of digital tools to support cases and contacts. There are 15 new COVID-19 cases in Hawke’s Bay. Of those cases, one was a Taradale High School student. A new location of interest has been identified in the region – The Gin Trap Bar in Napier on Saturday February 5th between 5.45 and 7.45pm. Hawke’s Bay could see 18,000 cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 over the next 12 months.
